Enos T. Hawkins

	Enos T. Hawkins, 85, of Sparta, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Sparta Community Hospital.
	Mr. Hawkins was a retired coal miner.  He was a life member of the Sparta VFW and Sparta Lion's Club, former Chairman of the Randolph County Democratic Party and was well known for taking trips with his team of mules and covered wagon.  Mr. Hawkins was a U.S.  Army veteran of WW II.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sparta.
	Mr. Hawkins was born February 2, 1918 in Pinckneyville, the son of Evan and Clara (Taylor) Hawkins.  He married Patricia Elledge on April 26, 1942 in Perryville, Mo. and she preceded him in death on June 15, 1978.
	Surviving are one daughter, Gwen and husband Allen Falkenhein of Overland, Mo.; one son, Gerald and wife Ruth Hawkins of Du Quoin; one brother, Milton Charles Hawkins of Sparta; one sister, Harriet Bland of Alpha, Ill.; three grandchildren and three  great-grandchildren.
	Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers and five sisters.
	Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 6 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Sparta with Rev. Tom Corum officiating.  Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
	Friends called at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Sparta from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
